Melissa George is a 23-year-old emerging Tanzanian fashion designer and the creative force behind Kontennu. Her journey began at just seven years old, inspired by Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, and grew into a passion for fashion and self-expression. She honoured her craft at FEDISA Fashion School, Cape Town, South Africa, graduating with a BA in Fashion (2023).

In 2024, Melissa captured attention when she won Emerging Designer of the Year at Swahili Fashion Week. Through Kontennu, she merges the edge of streetwear with refined sophistication, drawing on cultural heritage and global influences to craft designs that embody individuality, confidence, and contemporary style.
