Hailing from Tanzania, Kulwa Maige possessing a degree holder in Industrial Art and Design, with a specialization in fashion design, a deep passion for crafting and styling garments has been cultivated within her. In 2021, fueled by this passion, an endeavor was undertaken to established a clothing brand called Jesakudo. Situated in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, notable success has been experienced by Jesakudo in the local market.
In 2023, she managed to participate in the 16th Edition of Swahili Fashion Week and Awards Emerging Designers Competition, commonly known as the “Washington Benbella Emerging Designers Competition.” In the competition, she was among the 10 finalists and was in 2024 was granted an opportunity to take part in the Tech-Stitched Fashion Program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The program aimed to cultivate collaboration, learning, development, and cultural exchange among young emerging designers across Africa.
Driven by a shared vision, her aim is to expand the brand beyond borders and establish a global presence through a commitment to pushing boundaries and showcasing the unique blend of craftsmanship and creativity that defines Jesakudo. Through dedication and innovation, she aspires to leave a lasting mark on the world of fashion.
