Swahili Fashion Week 2008 which was held on 5 & 6 November 2008 Featured Best of Tanzanian Designers, Models, Stylists and Finalist of MNet Face of Africa Contestants.
In the 2009 Swahili Fashion Week, 5 designers participated in a fashion green segment where all 5 designers featured items made out of recycled materials such as paper and plastic.
It's called “ recycled fashion ”, and it's becoming popular all over the world with shows featuring recycled fashion from New York , London and Asia . Recycled fashion does not only encourage abstract creativity in fashion designers but it is a fun way to reduce waste that ends up in landfills.
