Jan Malan

Headed up by internationally acclaimed show director Jan Malan, Umzingeli Productions is one of Africa 's best known and most respected show production companies working on a wide range of fashion and entertainment related events across the continent and throughout the rest of the world.    Jan began working on shows in 1985, and established Umzingeli Productions, following the conceptualization and orchestration of the original  ' Face of Africa Model Search ' for MNET in 1997. 

This show was broadcast in over 40 countries, including the United States . The event continues to be a success and Malan is currently working on the 2009 competition.     Further work throughout Africa included the launch of 'Africa Designs' for MNET and AngloGold , which gave African designers their first opportunity to showcase their talents at New York Fashion Week , followed by ‘Afridesia' for AngloGold, which also culminated at New York Fashion Week. Continuing his ongoing dedication to Africa , Malan produced the inaugural on-schedule THISDAY ARISE African Fashion Collective  at New York Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2009. The show, presenting four of Africa 's top fashion designers   included a guest appearance by Grace Jones .  Umzingeli returned to New York to produce a second season entitled the ARISE Promise of Africa Collective Spring Summer 2010 in September this year.

Previous noteworthy productions include the launch of the 'African Renaissance Blue Train' on the mighty Zambezi; the finals of the Ford Supermodel of the World in the Dominican Republic and in Miami; POS+TIVE ROCKS for Sun International featuring John Legend and Kelly Rowland; the "models walking on water" fashion show for Tyra Bank's America's Next Top Model ; the Entertainment Direction for the Elton John Cape Town Ball; the annual fashion node at the International Design Indaba Expo in Cape Town ; the Nederburg Wine Auction; the BBC Africa Radio Awards held in Kenya and selective shows for Johannesburg Fashion Week, Cape Town Fashion Week, Durban Fashion Week and ARISE Africa Fashion Week.

Umzingeli Productions  is the responsible for the entire production of Mozambique Fashion Week and also staged Delhi Fashion Week in 2008 and ' 09 in India .

With offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town , and a team of highly-dedicated professionals Umzingeli continues to be at the forefront of innovative event production. 

 

Rehema F Samo is a freelance make up artist from Dar es Salaam . From a young age she was interested in the Beauty industry, so after completing secondary education in Mwanza she enrolled in a hairdressing course. She then was then able to work as a hairdresser cum make up artist.

Her renowned talent has got her participating at the forefront of Tanzania beauty pageants and fashion industry including Miss Tourism, Miss Tanzania , Swahili fashion week and all Mustafa Hassanali show and events. She also has worked for magazine such as Bang and Excel not forgetting being a make up artist for Various Tanzanian Celebrities. She has also used her skills in TV commercial and Music Video Albums.

Nthato Mashishi is a well known celebrity make-up artist who has won several fashion and style awards locally. He was voted by Fair Lady the fashion award for best make-up and hair artist and most stylish man in Mzansi by Style magazine

He is an expert on beauty and fashion trends. He worked on coca cola pop stars SA, Top Billing and Sama awards and SA Fashion week among others and also showcased some of his best work at the opening ceremony of the "World Summit Of Sustainable Development "which saw him and 19 other top rated SA make-up artists being commissioned to render their services at such a prestigious Event.

He is held in high esteem by some of SA's beautiful women and men celebrities who he worked with including Basetsana Kumalo,Thandiswa Mazwai, Terry Petho, Michael Mol and Mafikizolo to mention a few. Magazines covers include Top Billing, True Love, Elle SA, Style Drum, Soccer Life, Cosmopolitan SA and many more. 


Over the years Nthato has worked with international celebrities visiting SA for example Caprice and Kelly Rowland . He has also been doing work on overseas scenes especially in the USA and this year he was appointed the ambassador for IMAN Cosmetics in Africa and he will be heading Face of Africa's make-up department.
